Class History
As the inaugural class of the Monroe County program the class of 2016-2017 set the tone for future years. This group of 19 students proved the integral part that personal and professional development has in the lives of our young leaders. Through robust personalities and goals, this group made a lasting impression that is frequently revisited by new classes each year.
Class Business
Capes & Tiaras: In a trade show setting, Capes & Tiaras provided a place for local businesses to advertise products and/or services within the theme of event planning. Over $4,000 was generated and used as seed money for students to create their own individual businesses.

Entrepreneur of the Year
To capitalize on the angle of individual growth, the Monroe County startUP program offers the opportunity to earn Entrepreneur of the Year. All current startUP students are eligible for this honor. Selected individuals for this award possess the following qualities during their entrepreneurial journey:
- Entrepreneurial Spirit
- Integrity and Influence
- Innovation
- Intellectual Comprehension
- Perseverance
The 2017 Entrepreneur of the Year was named to Kaylee Fisk of Columbia High School.
As the first individual to earn this honor, Kaylee has set the tone for all future recipients.
At the start of her entrepreneurial journey Kaylee wanted to create a residential cleaning business. After putting some planning into this initial idea she began to question whether it was an avenue of passion for her. Through some reconsideration and brainstorming, the business of Kalyee Lynn Photography was born.
Photography has served as a longtime passion for Kalyee and she was ready to share her talents with the community. Kaylee Lynn Photography offered unique sessions that captured all those candid moments at some of life’s greatest events. Her specialization was family events, such as birthday parties, anniversaries and graduations. While families focused on making memories with one another, Kaylee took care of capturing those memories through beautiful photography.
Kaylee has continued her photography business while attending College of the Ozarks. She is majoring Nutritional Sciences and Dietetics, with a minor in Hotel and Restaurant Management. Her goals are to become a Registered Dietician and one day own her own restaurant! She looks forward to incorporating elements of entrepreneurship, event planning, management, photography and marketing into her future endeavors.
